Explain any three features of montane forests

  • Montane forests are mountain forests or a complete ecosystem that is found on mountains only.

  • Its features are as follows:-

  1. Evergreen type of vegetation is prevalent in montane forest. Commonly pine, deodar, cidar trees are found.
  2. They are very affected by the existing climatic conditions. With increase in elevation, the temperature falls down gradually. So, it is more cold at the top. So, a corresponding change in natural vegetation is also observed at each level
  3. Generally, they are conical in shape so that it is easy for the snow to slide down.

1-They are found in hilly areas having a high altitude.

2-The wet temperate forests are found between 1000-2000 meters.

3-More than 3000 meters give the way to alpine vegetation.

4-These forests are mostly used by Gujjar shephards.

5-Trees found are birchona, pine, fur, etc.6- Animals found are-Tibetan antelope,yak,sheeps,goats,rare red panda etc.
