1. Federal Government - The Indian constitution says that India should have a Federal government, that is, the powers will be distributed between the central and state governments. Since India is a vast country, it is not possible by only the central government to rule from the centre. Laws are made by the central as well as state governments.

2. Secularism - Secularism means that there is no state religion. The Indian Constitution does not follow any religion.

3. Distribution of Powers - The powers are distributed between three different entities, namely, Legislature, Executive and Judiciary. Legislature makes laws, Executive implements the laws made by the Legislature and Judiciary is responsible for punishing the people who break the law.
