the three poverty alleviation programmes taken by the government are:
1.Integrated rural development programme(IRDP):
The integrated rural development programme was started in 20 Selected districts in the country in 1976 to 1977.later on in 1980 the program was extended to all the districts of the country.the scheme was funded by centre.the funds for the scheme a shared by centre and state government on equal basis.
2.National Rural Employment programme(NREP):
this program was launched in 1980.The main aim of the program was to create employment opportunities by building and maintaining committee is its like village roads, ponds and Wells etc.the scheme was expected to generate additional gainful employment to the extent of 30 to 40 crore man days per annum and to develop community assets in this program food grains are given for the work and NREP was immersed with Jawahar Rozgar Yojana (JRY) in 1989 .
3. Rural landless Employment Guarantee programme (RLEGP):
This programme started in 1983. Its main objective was to provide 100 days of assured employment in a year to rural landless labour families. They were to be employed in creating community assets. This is scheme was sponsored by union government. In 1989 this scheme was merged in JRY.

Antyodaya Anna Yojana (AAY)

(i) This scheme was laufrchid ih Efeceihber 2000.

(ii) 1 crore of the poorest among the BPL families were covered under the targeted PDS.

(iii) 25 kg of foodgrains were made available to each eligible family at a highly subsidised rate—2 per kg for wheat and 3 per kg for rice.

(iv) This quantity has been enhanced from 25 kg to 35 kg with effect from April 2002.

(v) Now almost 2 crore families are covered under this scheme.

Pradhan Mantri Rozgar Yojana (PMRY)

(i) This programme was launched in 1993.

(ii) It is aimed at providing self-employment opportunity to educated unemployed youth in the rural and urban areas.

(iii) Under this programme, scheduled banks provide loans at a lower interest rate to start small business and set up industries.

Rural Employment Generation Programme (REGP)

(i) This programme was launched in 1995.

(ii) The aim of the programme is to create self-employment opportunity in rural areas and small towns.

(iii) A target for creating 25 lakh new jobs has been set for this programme under the Tenth Five Year Plan.
