The 3 main problems faced by Cotton textile industries in India are-

  • Erratic power supply.
  • Scarcity of Raw Cotton: Indian cotton textile industry suffered a lot as a result of partition because most of the long staple cotton growing areas went to Pakistan.
  • There is lower output of labour, since they are not skilled in their jobs.

1.Power supply is erratic. Regular power supply without breaks is essential for this industry.

2. Output of labour is low because the machinery is outdated. Particularly in the weaving and processing sectors, the machinery needs to be upgraded.

3. This industry faces stiff competition from the synthetic fibre industry in terms of cost and convenience of use.
