the movt here was against the talukdars and landlords.
1. the talukdars would take high rents from the poor peasants.
2. they were sometimes also faced to do begar and work in their landlords fields for long hours without payment
3. as tenants they had no security of tenure. they no longer had rights over their ceased land

Major problems faced by the peasants of Awadh were:-

1) The landlords and talukdars of Awadh demanded exorbitantly high land rent and a number of other cesses from the peasants.

2) The peasants were compelled to do beggar, that is, they had to work at landlord’s farm without payment.

3) As tenants, the peasants had no security of tenure and were often evicted from their land, they could not acquire any right over the leased land.
