Three challenges that faced by the jute industry in India:-

  • The invention of synthetic fibre is most responsible for declining demand of jute.

  • The cost of synthetic fibre is is less than the cost of jute. So, everyone are demanding synthetic fibre more than jute.

  • The competition occurs at internal level most of the countries which used to export jute, these are spotting at low cost that in India.

Main objectives of national jute policy 2005 are :-

  1. To increase productivity of jute.
  2. To ensure good prices for jute farmers.
  3. To improve quality of jute industry.
  4. Enhance the yields of per hectares of jute.
