Two factors leading to the development of Canal irrigation in Pakistan are explained bellow:-

1) Karez:-  An old system of canal irrigation is karze, it is in the Baluchistan province of Pakistan. This system consists of several km of long underground water channels used to take out water present in the foothills for irrigation purposes.

2)Inundation Canal:-

The inundation canals  are those canals, which are taken directly from rivers. In Pakistan, these canals take water from the Indus and its tributaries in the Indus Plain. They are filled with water during the flood season when the water level is high in the rivers.
