Explain any two methods of removing temporary hardness in water to make it soft

Temporarily hard water is hard because of the presence of carbonate or bicarbonate ions of calcium and/or magnesium. It can be “softened” by boiling or adding lime to it in a process called Lime softening . It can also be softened by ion exchange also called Zeolite softening.
