• Apogee is a point where the velocity of the object is slowest and the radius is furthest from the earth.

Apogee distance = a(1 + e)

Apogee height = - R

• Whereas Perigee is a point where the velocity of the object is slowest but the radius is closest to the earth.

Perigee distance = a(1 - e)

Perigee height = - R

• Both Apogee and Perigiee of the moon have affects on the tides of the earth.
