Atomic Number -
Number of protons found in the nucleus is known as atomic number.

Mass Number -
The total number of protons and neutrons in the nucleus is known as mass number.

Isotopes -
Atoms consisting of the same number of protons but have a different number of neutrons.

Isomers -
Atoms with the same molecular formula but different chemical structures.

Uses of Isotopes:-

i)Used in making smoke detectors.

ii)Used to sterilize medical equipments.

Hope this helps......

The "atomic number" is defined as the total number of protons present in the nucleus of an atom.

The "mass number" is defined as the sum of the total number of protons and neutrons present in the nucleus of an atom.

"Isotopes" are defined as the atoms of the same element having the same atomic number but different mass numbers.

"Isomers" are defined as the two or more atomic nuclei that have the same atomic number and the same mass number but different energy states.

"Uses of isotopes"
1. An isotope of uranium is used as a fuel in nuclear reactors.
2. An isotope of cobalt is used in the treatment of cancer.
3. An isotope of iodine is used in the treatment of goitre.
