The no.of protons and electons keeps on increasing as we go across a period... hence the atomic Charge increases.. hence the force of attraction increases.. and so the radius decreases

Anonymous: so the effective nuclear charge increases
Anonymous: and atomic size decreases
Nikhita28: that's what is written...nuclear charge increases
Anonymous: bite your reason for increase in nuclear charge is not relevant
Anonymous: Come on... i didn't write dat cuz... i thought @Nikhita was knowledgeable enough to know that
Anonymous: And that she is
Anonymous: fine :)
Nikhita28: that is understandable !

the no of protons in the nucleus increases. this means that the total charge in the nucleus will also increase. this increased charge pulls the orbits close to itself due to which the atomic radius decreases.
