In a balanced diet.. all tue reqd nutrients are provided to the body.. these can be planned by adding the right amount of each nutrient loke carbohydrate fat protein etc.. indian staple diet is an example of it

a balanced diet contains all your nutrients like vitamins ,protiens, carbs etc
meal planning: you should divide the calaries of particular food and according to goals if you want to gain weight eat more calaries in a day [more than your weight] or if you want to loose weight maintain your diet
