Explain banking of road and its necessasity

banking of roads is a process of raising the outer edge of road over it's inner edge

the angle made by the road with the horizontal is called as angle of banking

it is necessary for a vehicle moving along a curved banked road, the necessary centripetal force is provided by force of friction between the tyres and the road surface

in case of a car moving at a high speed the force of friction should be increased by making the surface rough this causes wear and tear of tyres

the force of friction is not always reliable as it's value decreases when road becomes wet or oily

hence In order to avoid skidding of vehicles banking of road is necessary

I hope this helps ( ╹▽╹ )

Answer:

Banking of road is the process of raising outer edge of a road over its inner edge through certain angle. When a vehicle moves on a curved horizontal surface ,friction force between wheels and road provide the necessary centripetal force .So, roads are banked to provide necessary centripetal force.
