at room temperature BeCl2 is a solid. this is because it can form co-ordinate bonds with other molecules of the same type and forms chain like structure. BeCl2 is a monomer and it forms a chain like polymer. Be still has 2 empty orbitals after it has formed covalent bonds with chlorine atoms.
