If a line is drawn parallel to one side of a triangle intersecting other two sides at 2 distinct points, then the line divides the two sides at equal ratio i.e the sides are proportional.

Let us consider ∆ ABC, where EF || BC & it interests AB & AC at E & F respectively.

So now, we can conclude that ,

 \frac{ae}{eb}  =  \frac{af}{fc}
