Answer:
When you breathe, you are taking in oxygen with each inhale and releasing carbon dioxide with each exhale. ... Respiration is the biochemical process in which the cells of an organism obtain energy by combining oxygen and glucose, resulting in the release of carbon dioxide, water, and ATP (the currency of energy in cells).

RESPIRATION
- Respiration is the chemical process, which involves breathing in oxygen , breathing out carbon dioxide & breakdown of food using oxide to release energy.
DETAILED EXPLANATION
- All living organisms require energy to carry out various life processes . like nutrition, transport, excretion, reproduction, etc. This energy is stored in the food that we eat .
- In order to break down food to release energy oxidation of food takes place. This reaction takes place in the cells of the body of the organisms.
- The oxygen needed for the oxidation comes from the air that we inhale. This oxygen is then transported to every cell.
- Thus, the process in which food is broken down to release energy is called respiration. During respiration, carbon dioxide and water are released as waste - products.
Types of Respiration :-
- Aerobic respiration requires oxygen and releases lots of energy.
- Anaerobic respiration does not require oxygen and releases less energy.
