digestion: fats are digested in small intestine (duodenum) . the succus entericus( intestinal juice) has enzyme " lipases " that breaks down fats to diglycerides and monoglycerides .these di and monoglycerides in duodenum are broken down to fatty acids and glycerol by lipases.
absorption: since fatty acids nd glycerol are insoluble in water they cannot be absorbed directly in blood. they are
1st turned into small droplets called micelles
2nd micelles move in interstitial mucosa
3rd micelles are reformed into small protein coated fat globules called chylomicrons.
4th chylomicrons are transported into lymph lacteals in villi
5th lymph lacteals release them into blood
