Due to the rise in population in England, the demand of food grains increased. But the production of grains could not keep pace with increasing demand so price went very high. Since price was high, huge profits went to the landlords which led to the idea of enclosure of land which would give more profits to the landlords. Though enclosures were in slow pace in 16th centuary but they were rapid in 18th centuary due to support of government.
