It is also called Oxidation-Reduction reaction.

✔ Magnesium ribbon burns in air with white dazzling flame giving white ash.

➡2Mg + O2 -----> 2MgO. Here, Magnesium is oxidised to magnesium oxide because oxygen and magnesium combines (chemical reaction takes place) to form a compound of magnesium oxide (white powder).....☺
