In Cathode Ray Tube, when a light paddle wheel is placed in the path of cathode ray then it's starts rotating because cathode ray is moving and have kinetic energy so, due to presence of kinetic energy in moving object. Moving object can do work

Suppose you are tied behind a car,

Now the car is moving,

You are tied with the help of a rope

Now when car moves, it pulls rope and rope pulls you

So rope is applying force, it's itself moving due to the car pulling it

Now it don't matter whether you are running due to the rope pulling you or whether you are getting dragged,

rope is doing work because you are displaced!
