limestone is a mixture of the minerals calcite and aroganit , both of which form polymorphic form of calcium carbonate CaCo3. David compounds reacts with HCL as follows (standard acids- base reaction)

CaCo3 (s) + 2HCL (aq) gives rights to CaCl2 (aq) + Co2 (g) + H2O (l)

Carbon dioxide gas is produced and this makes the solution effervesce. An aqueous solution of calcium chloride & water is left behind

The lime stone(calcium carbonate)reacts with hydrochloric acid and three products are formed. One of them is calcium chloride which being soluble in water and get washed away with water. The second product is carbon dioxide;its bubbles mix up in air . The third product, water mixes with water.

Word equation:

Calcium carbonate+ hydrochloric acid=calcium chloride+ carbon dioxide+ water.
