The carbon cycle is actually the biogeochemical cycle, which involves the movement of carbon between oceans, atmosphere, geosphere and biosphere. The point to be carefully noted is all living things are made up of carbon, which can be found in different forms like carbon dioxide. The plant absorbs carbon dioxide in the day and release it during the night due to the process of photosynthesis. When plants die, the remaining stuff gets converted into carbon, which cause animal’s death when they eats those plants. Moreover, when animals dies, that carbon release back to the atmosphere that can be use by the plants and this cycle goes on. 
It helps in the movement of carbon through all the spheres of earth and to maintain concentrations in each sphere.
