Carnatic wars were a series of military conflicts in the mid 18th Century in India between British, French, Marathas, and Mysore for the control of the coastal strip of eastern India.

The conflict involved numerous independent rulers and their vassals struggling for territory and succession dispute to control trading ports of India that resulted in diplomatic and military struggles between French East India Company and British East India Company and numerous nominally independent rulers.

Three wars were fought, namely: the first Carnatic war (1746-1748); second Carnatic was (1749-1754); and lastly the third Carnatic War (1757-1763) which resulted in the weakening of native rule. The British naval power winning the war during the third war, which ended French power thus English became the only force in the country. As a result, the British East India Company established its dominance and rule among European trading companies.
