  • In the 18th century, three Carnatic Wars were fought between various Indian rulers and British and French East India Company on either side. These wars resulted in establishment of political supremacy of British East India Company. The French company was reduced in the areas around Pondicherry only

first Carnatic war (1746-1748)

on request of Dupleix, la bourdanais a French military officer from Mauritius attacked Madras and captured it , the helpless British approached Anwaruddin mahan of Carnatic, the army sent by Anwaruddin couldn't defeat French. later la bourdanais tool money from British and returned to Mauritius the enraged Dupleix and attacked Madras but couldn't defeat British . this war ended with the treaty of 'Aix - la Chappele' in Europe

second Carnatic war (1749 - 1754)
