Worker:- These are the smallest individuals type category. Numbers of this category is maximum in the hive. In this type of caste parts like wings & mouth are found to be very strong.

Some Important Information:-

  • Mouth parts & legs are made so that they can suck the flowers nectar & also have ability to collect the pollen grains as well.

  • In tibia specially in hind leg pollen basket is modified for the purpose of collection of pollen.

  • At the base in 2nd to 5th abdominal segment some pocket like wax glands are available so that they can sterile females.

  • Actually all these are developed by 32 set of chromosomes from fertilized eggs.

  • As their role is of labour so they work hard this is the reason their life span is of just 6 - 8 weeks.
