The brain may be divided into three parts-forebrain, mindbrain and hindbrain.

The forebrain consist of the cerebrum, the largest part of the human brain. The cerebrum consist of two cerebral hemispheres joined by a curved thick band of nerve fibres, called corpus callosum. Cerebral cortex is the outer layer of the cerebrum. The cerebral cortex consist of numerous neurons, and the folds serve to increase the surface area so that the maximum number of neurons can be present.

The cerebrum has sensory areas where information is received from the sense organs. Likewise, there is the motor area from where impulses are sent to muscle or effector organs. In the cerebrum, specific regions for each kind of stimulus and it's response are located. Occipital lobe is the region for visual reception, temporal lobe for auditory reception, parietal lobe for toich, smell, temperature, and conscious association, and frontal lobe for muscular activities. Pairs of cranial nerves arise from the brain.

Hope it helps☑
