Some endocrine glands, hormones produced and their functions are :-

• Thyroid gland - It secretes thyroxin that controls the metabolic rate.

• Adrenal gland - It secretes adrenalin that prepares body for emergency.

• Pancreas - It secretes insulin and glycogen that regulates the amount of sugar in the blood.

• Testes - It secretes testosterone which controls sexual development in male.

• Ovaries - It secretes oestrogen that controls sexual development in female.

• Pituitary gland - It secretes growth hormones and stimulating hormones that speeds up growth and activates other glands.
