The chest cavity is also known as Thoracic cavity . this cavity is surrounded by ribs the sides which form a cage like structure called Rib cage . a large muscular sheet called diaphragm forms the floor of the chest cavity . this is diaphragm separates chest cavity from the abdominal cavity ( where digestive system is present)
