From the excavated remains, it is clear that it possessed a flourishing urban architecture. There were well-planned grids with broad main roads and smaller lanes intersecting at right angles.

The cities were planned with broad streets upto 33 feet in breadth . The roads crossed each other at right angles . Burnt bricks and gypsum were used for building houses . There was a well laid out drainage system . There were communal bath tanks
. The towns had a good system of water supply . People used both cotton and woollen garments for covering themselves .
