◆Clause:-
It is a sentence or a part of a sentence that makes complete sense. For example; He is crying. Here, He is - is a phrase and does not make complete sense. But, He is crying - is a clause as it makes complete sense.
◆Types of Clauses:-
●Main Clause / Principal Clause - It is the clause that makes complete sense by itself and does not depend on other clauses.For example; He is crying as he is sad. He is crying - Main Clause
●Subordinate Clauses - It is the clause other than the main clause and depends on the main clause to make sense. For example; He is crying as he is sad.
as he is sad - Subordinate Clause
●Adverb Clauses - It modifies a sentence or a part of a sentence to make complete sense. For example; Home is where the heart is. where the heart is - Adverb Clause
●Adjective Clauses - It qualifies a sentence or a part of a sentence to make complete sense. For example; The house is made of bamboo. made of bamboo - Adjective Clause
The Adverb Clauses and Adjective Clauses are also divided further.
