Toys, pots, pitchers, earthern lamps, clay stove, clay wares were made by the potters to store grains, milk, ghee, curd and buttermilk. Maximum wares were made up of clay. The walls of the houses were plastered by paste of cow dung and clay. Archaeologists got many clay utensils of red colour that belonged to Lothal, Mohan-Jo-Daro and Harrapa culture of ancient time. Potter's wheel is considered to be the best device for clay work in ancient India. In present time also we see garba in Navratri there they use clay pot. India is famous for producing the baked utensils of baked clay as well as unbaked clay since ancient times. This is known by seeing remains of old and handmade clay utensils found from Nagarjuna Kaunda in South India and Laghnaj.
