Collenchyma Is a living tissue of primary body , like parenchyma . the cells r thin walled but possess thickenings of cellulose nd pectic substance at the corners numbers of cell join together. These tissue provide flexibility to soft aerial parts of plant so that they can bend without breaking. The cells r compact nd the intercellular spaces r absent . the collenchymatous cells r generally elongated with oblique end walls . In transverse section , they appear circular, oval or polygonal .
