Colligative property:- the property of dilute or ideal solution which depend upon the number of solute particles.

  • relative lowering in vapour pressure:- the vapour pressure of a solution containing non volatile solute will always be lower than that of pure solvent it means the total vapour pressure of solution only due to the solvent molecules
  • elevation in boiling point:- boiling point is the temperature at which is temperature of the vapour pressure of liquid become equal to its external pressure
  • depression in freezing point temperature:- a solution please when it vapour pressure become equal to the vapour pressure pure solvent

colligative properties are properties of solutions that depend on the ratio of the number of solute particles to the number of solvent molecules in a solution, and not on the nature of the chemical species present
