Children make mistakes in measurement related problems because of lack of understanding about concept of size.
1-Calibrating Error : Before using instrument , it must be caliberated. Adjustment of zero mark on guage to correspond with true zero reading is called caliberation. Your eye must be at 90 degrees to the scale while taking the reading.
2-Random Errors: In these errors measurement fluctuates around true value.Lets suppose we are finding out a parameter X, because of random error, dispersion of values will occour ,but mean of X will still be representing the true value of that particular instrument. 3-Systematic Error: Error which occours while taking reading by looking at level of liquid near brim of glass is called systematic error.
Students must be very alert in order to avoid errors and must have sound knowledge about size .
Learning Activity: Please share with us your experience of using any device that required caliberation.
