Compound epithelium is made up of two or more layers and also known as Striated epithelium.

This type of epithelial is responsible for secretion and absorption.

And their main function is to provide protection against chemical and mechanical stresses.

Modifications of compound epithelium are :-

• Dry part of the skin.
• In the lining of buccal cavity.
• In the inner lining of Pancreatic ducts
• Pharynx
• Inner lining of salivary glands.
