The process by heat is transferred from hotter and to the colder and of solid is called conduction. when solid substance is heated,the heat energy is usually transferred from molecule to another molecule as they are in direct contact with each other. An example of conduction is using a metal rod to roast marshmallows on an open fire and feeling the heat rise through the rod from the fire to your hand.
