Contact Force

Contact force is a force that is applied by objects in contact with each other. Contact force acts on a point of direct contact between the two objects. This force can either be continuous as a continuous force or can be momentary in the form of an impulse. Contact force is governed by Newton's Laws

Non contact Force

A non-contact force is a force which acts on an object without coming physically in contact with it. The most familiar example of a non-contact force is gravity, which confers weight. In contrast a contact force is a force applied to a body by another body that is in contact with it.

Contact forces:

The force which come into play only when two objects come in contact with each other are called contact forces.

Muscular force and force of friction are the examples of contact forces.

Non-contact forces:

The force which come into play without any contact of objects with one another are called non-contact forces.

Electrostatic and magnetic forces are the examples of non-contact forces.
