When two plates come together, they form convergent boundary.
When two plates move away from each other, they form divergent boundary.

Theory of Plate Tectonics
The crust of the Earth has been formed out of 7 major and some minor plates. The movement of the plates results in the building up of stresses within the plates and the continental rocks above, leading to folding, faulting and volcanic activity.

Answer:

Tetonic Plates :

  • Due to internal heat of earth , the currents of semi - molten rocks moves towards the crust.
  • They tear it apart .
  • Then , It is divided into two large fragments .
  • These fragments are known as Tetonic Plates .

Movement of plates :

There are basically three types of plates :

  1. Convergent
  2. Divergent
  3. Transform Fault

Divergent Movements :

when plates move away from each other , known as Divergent Movements.

Convergent Movements :

When plates move towards each other , known as Convergent Movements .

Transform Movements :

When two plates moves horizontally passing each other , known as Transform Movements .
