• Coordinating conjunctions are a discrete set: and, but, so, or, nor, yet, for. They always go in the middle of the two clauses, and if they’re joining clauses, you use a comma:
I was tired, so I took a nap.
• Subordinating conjunctions are a larger group, and usually, the dependent clause can either come at the beginning or the end of the sentence:
Because I was tired, I took a nap.
OR
I took a nap because I was tired. (note the difference in punctuation)
I hope it helps!
