it's formed by catination and mutual sharing of valence electron is called covalent bond. chcl3 is formed by sharing of electrons means by covalent bond there is electronegative charge between carbon and chlorine.

In this situation, carbon shares its one valence electron with hydrogen and other 3 electrons with 3 atoms of chlorine. since carbon is Tetra valent, it is able to do so
