covalent bond are formed by the equal sharing of electrons..
there are three types of covalent bonds.
in oxygen (O2)
there are 6electron available in outer shell of oxygen atom
therefore each oxygen atom shares 2 electrons to complete it's octet
therefore oxygen forms double covalent bond.
in chlorine molecules
each atom shares 1 electron to complete it's octet... therefore they form single covalent bond
