cytoskeletons.

(cell biology)

The lattice or internal framework of a cell composed of protein filaments and microtubules in the cytoplasm, and has a role in controlling cell shape, maintaining intracellular organization, and in cell movement

Through a series of intercellular proteins, the cytoskeleton gives a cell its shape, offers support, and facilitates movement through three main components:

♦microfilaments,

♦intermediate filaments,

♦ microtubules.

... The microtubules have three different functions which contribute to the job of the cytoskeleton.
