⭐ Hello Friend⭐
When electricity is passed through sodium chloride NaCl ,it undergoes decomposition to give sodium and chlorine.
2NaCl ------> 2Na + Cl2
✌️Hope it helps you ✌️

Electrolytic decomposition:Decomposition of any molecule by using electricity is termed as electrolytic decomposition. Uses: There certain compounds which dissociate at higher temperatures for such molecules by using electricity will dissociate easily. Ex: NaCl molecule will dissociate at higher temperatures, but on electrolysis it will decompose easily. Using electricity the non-spontaneous reactions can also takes place easily.
