it is also called anamorphic fungi.
Any of various fungi that reproduceonly asexually, by means of conidia.The penicillin mold, the fungus thatcauses athlete's foot, and the fungusthat causes root rot and damping offin plants are deuteromycetes. Thedeuteromycetes do not form a naturalphylogenetic grouping. Instead, theclassification simply includes thefungal species that have lost thesexual stage in their life cycle. Mostdeuteromycete species are in factdescended from ascomycetes andcan be reclassified as such if theirsexual stage is discovered. Alsocalled imperfect fungus Compareperfect fungus.

Deuteromycetes, also called anamorphic fungi, fungi (kingdom Fungi) in which a true sexual state is uncommon or unknown. ... Because of this ambiguity, the termdeuteromycetes is used only todescribe some species of fungi and has very little importance in the classification of fungi.
