Horizontal

When power is shared among the various organs at the same level , viz. Legislative, executive and judiciary. This form of power sharing ensures that none of the organs of the government gets unlimited power.

Vertical

When power is shared among the highest and the lowest authority of the government at different levels. Power is shared at national, state and local levels.
