as you go from north pole to equator the difference between day and night goes on becoming less and less at equator the day and night become  12 hours approx. due to axis of rotation of the earth is slanted, to that of the sun , seasons occurs .duration reverses with seasons ie. in winter days in north becomes shotre than 12 hours .
