Answer:

The forces help in the movements of the lithospheric or tectonic

plates. On the basis of their source of origin, forces are of two

types namely endogenic and exogenic.

 Endogenic forces: The forces which originate from within the

earth are called endogenic forces. These forces can produce

sudden or slow movements or both. They also cause horizontal

and vertical movements. The endogenic forces can be further

classified into diastrophic forces and sudden forces. The

diastrophic forces are responsible for mountain building while

the sudden forces are experienced through earthquakes, volcanic

eruptions and landslides.

 Exogenic forces: The forces which originate on the earth’s

surface are called exogenic forces. Erosional and depositional

work by rivers, wind, glaciers and sea waves are examples of

exogenic forces.
