they are classified inti 3 groups
MONOSACCHARIDES:
they are simple sugers sweet in taste and soluble in water.monosaccharides are from 3 to 7 carbon atoms
eg .pentose hexose
Oligosaccharides:
they are comparatively less sweet in taste less soluble in water and yeild 2 to 10 monosaccharides on hydrolysis
eg.sucrose,maltose lactose e.t.c
POLYSACCHARIDES:
they are most complex and abundant in nature they are tasteless and branched and sparingly soluble in water
eg.starch glycogene.t.c
