Diffusion is a process in which fluid flow from its high concentration to low concentration.

For example- when you burn an incense stick, the fragrance reach all the parts of the room because the concentration smoke from incense stick is higher near it than at other parts. So the air travels from high to low concentration.

★ Diffusion is defined as the net movement of molecules from high region concentration to low region concentration .

★ Diffusion is a process which can occur in all media which involve solid, liquid and gaseous molecules.

★ Diffusion is a passive process which occurs in the transportation of substances in plants.

★ Gaseous substances can exhibit diffusion. Here it is the spontaneous movement of gaseous substances like carbon dioxide and oxygen from a region of high concentration to a region of low concentration.

★ It is passive movement of substance from a region of higher concentration to the region of lower concentration.

★ Diffusion helps in certain metabolic processes like absorption, respiration, excretion etc.

For example:-

★ when we open the cap of a perfume its fragrance spread in the entire room due to diffusion.

★ when in kitchen the food is cooked, we can get it's hot sizzling smell from far metres away . it is due to the food's smell in the form of gas moves very quickly and mix up with air by the process of Diffusion .
