Role of Stomach in digestion :  

 The food then passes through the oesophagus and reaches the stomach .

 It is J-shaped ,thick – walled bag – like structure . The stomach is the widest part of the alimentary canal.

 It is located under the diaphragm in left of abdomen cavity.

 It stores food and digests it by secreting gastric juices.

 Stomach acts as a storage tank for food so that the body has time to digest large meal properly .

 Stomach divide into three main parts – Upper,middle,lower have sphincter muscle which allow only 1 tease food inside one time.

 The inner walls of the stomach consists of the gastric gland which secrete gastric juice in which Pepsin,Renin,mucus layer , HCL etc  

 HCL work kill the bacteria and Create the medium acidic in stomach which help to enzymes work.

 Pepsin convert into peptide then digests proteins and convert into amino acids  

 Mucus layer prevents the stomach from wall erosion and protects from the acidic effects of hydrochloric acid  

 Renin found in children  

 Digestive juice are present in the stomach and the final and complete digestion of food do not occur here .

 Stomach also absorb glucose , Water , alchol and many medicines .
